About Oakfield

We welcome all golfers and celebrate our champions; Oakfield was fabricated on inclusivity. A day at Oakfield isn't measured by your scorecard so much as it is by the friendly interactions, good shots, great people, and a cold beer at the end of your round. Oakfield Golf & Country Club's championship 18-hole golf course was established in 1961 with lands donated by the Laurie Estate. The golf course was redesigned in 2003 by renowned architect, Graham Cooke.

Our mission is to provide a championship caliber golf course in a natural, friendly, and inviting setting; designed to enhance everyone's golfing experience. Our vision is always to enhance the enjoyment of the game of golf for all. Oakfield's purpose is to keep the game fun and forge lifetime bonds with family, friends and our course.

History

It is a story of vision, persistence, generosity and dedication... Oakfield Golf & Country Club was incorporated under the Companies Act of Nova Scotia on August 25, 1961, with 340 acres of the Laurie Estate sold to the Club; course construction soon began. In June of 1962, Oakfield had five holes open for play. The Club's development was an important step in the growth of the social life of the area, and given its objectives, it was a clear statement that social and political influence in the city and its environs would include an increasingly diverse group of people from many different backgrounds. The Club has grown to be successful over the years with loyal, long-standing members and hosting many events. Some tournament milestones for Oakfield are the Canadian Amateur Tournament and Willingdon Cup Championship in both 1971 and 1989 along with the Mackenzie PGA Tour: HFX Pro-Am in 2019. Not to mention countless provincial Championships throughout its history.
