Hole Description

Oakfield starts off with a reachable par 5 that many see as an easy birdie opportunity. But, don't be fooled by its apparent simplicity. The green is surrounded by trees, making accuracy crucial. Opting for a conservative approach doesn't guarantee safety either, as a strategically placed pond lurks, ready to exact its toll on errant shots.

  • 216
Hole Description

This par 4 presents a tantalizing risk-reward opportunity. Many golfers opt to leave their drivers in the bag, steering clear of the cluster of trees directly ahead. Precision becomes paramount on the second shot, as any wayward approaches to the right risk ending up in a bunker or facing steep mounding beside the green, turning a par into a challenging task.

Hole Description

From an elevated tee, golfers face a daunting sight: bunkers and ponds strategically framing the landing area. Hole Description

The elevated tee offers a welcoming start, enticing all players with its wide fairway. However, the challenge intensifies as you approach the green, which sits high above the typical landing area, guarded by bunkers at the front. While the green appears relatively flat, its subtle undulations can confound even seasoned golfers, adding an element of intrigue to every putt.

Women's Handicap: 13

  • 382
  • 362
  • 334
  • 275
  • 252
Hole Description

This straight away par 4 presents a direct path of play, but beware of the bunkers and mounding that defend the right side. The real test comes at the narrow, two-tiered green, where precision and distance control are paramount. A misplaced shot risks finding yourself on the wrong tier, underscoring the importance of strategic placement on approach.

Hole 10 - BIRCH BEND

Men's Handicap: 12
Women's Handicap: 12

  • 365
  • 354
  • 322
  • 291
  • 231
Hole Description

This hole demands strategic decision-making. A precisely placed drive sets up a shorter approach shot, increasing the likelihood of securing a par. However, it's crucial to note that the fairway slopes downhill from right to left. Those who fail to navigate the corner effectively find themselves running out of room to the right, with trees poised to catch any errant shots.

Hole 11 - THE SCOTIAN

Par 4
Men's Handicap: 6
Women's Handicap: 6

  • 433
  • 411
  • 371
  • 320

Hole Description

The 11th hole poses a formidable challenge as a lengthy par 4, featuring a fairway sloped to narrow proportions. Approach shots to the green are particularly demanding, with bunkers and unforgiving slopes encircling the putting surface. Notably, a pronounced slope divides the green, adding an extra layer of complexity to an already tough hole.

Hole 12 - WHISPERING PINES

Par 5
Men's Handicap: 18
Women's Handicap: 8

  • 507
  • 490
  • 461
  • 428
  • 393
Hole Description

Ranked among the province's top par 5s, this hole presents an enticing blend of risk and reward. From an elevated tee, players face a strategic choice: risk encountering a trio of fairway bunkers which will force a layup or pitch into the green, or attempt to cut the corner and get home in two. Amidst this challenge, take a moment to appreciate the stunning vista of Fish Lake as you prepare for your approach. However, beware of the pond lurking short and left of the green, ready to penalize aggressive plays into the green.

Hole 13 - WATERLOO

Par 3
Men's Handicap: 16
Women's Handicap: 14

  • 160
  • 138
  • 132
  • 112
  • 102
Hole Description

Oakfield's signature hole stands as a captivating short par 3, requiring players to navigate over the picturesque edge of Fish Lake. Despite its brevity, this hole demands equal measures of grit and skill due to the presence of water and the prevailing winds blowing off the lake.

Hole 14 - BUNKER HILL

Par 4
Men's Handicap: 2
Women's Handicap: 2

  • 405
  • 395
  • 345
  • 309
  • 228
Hole Description

The 14th hole has a sweeping right-to-left slope near the landing area presenting players with a strategic dilemma: taking advantage of it can add valuable yards to the tee shot, but risks leaving a challenging, uneven approach to the green. Complicating matters further, the green itself features a pronounced slope in the middle, emphasizing the necessity of selecting the correct club for the approach. Adding to the challenge, a bunker follows the contour of the front and left portions of the green, demanding precision and careful consideration of shot placement.

Hole 15 - TENDER TRAPS

Par 3
Men's Handicap:14
Women's Handicap: 18

  • 176
  • 160
  • 132
  • 113
  • 99
Hole Description

This elevated par 3 presents a unique challenge. Despite its width, the green is deceptively short, demanding precise distance control with your irons. Any shots that fall short are penalized by three strategically placed bunkers guarding the front, while a false front on the approach prohibits running the ball onto the green. Moreover, those who overshoot face the daunting task of navigating an uphill slope toward the 16th tee, making for a challenging up-and-down situation.

Hole 16 - LAURIE LEA

Par 4
Men's Handicap: 8
Women's Handicap: 10

  • 382
  • 355
  • 338
  • 296
  • 231
Hole Description

The 16th hole is a par 4 that initially appears inviting with its generous landing area. However, the challenge intensifies on the approach, as the elevated green poses a formidable defense against short shots, either repelling them down a steep slope or into the depths of a greenside bunker. Despite its size, the large green doesn't guarantee an easy two-putt, adding another layer of complexity to this demanding hole.

Hole 17 - WEEPING WILLOW

Par 5
Men's Handicap: 10
Women's Handicap: 16

  • 550
  • 514
  • 448
  • 390
  • 349
Hole Description

Oakfield's longest hole is this challenging par 5 that offers a dynamic landscape. Beginning with a slight downhill trajectory to the right, the fairway then abruptly turns, ascending steeply to the left. Straying from the initial dogleg right exposes golfers to a series of bunkers and trees on the left side. For those daring to reach the green in two, a blind shot awaits, with tall willows looming to the left. Adding to the difficulty, the elevated green is guarded by a sizable greenside bunker positioned prominently at the front.

Hole 18 - GRAND VIEW

Par 4
Men's Handicap: 4
Women's Handicap: 4

  • 441
  • 412
  • 388
  • 325
  • 257
Hole Description

The final hole at Oakfield is a true test of skill and nerve. From an elevated tee, golfers are met with an intimidating view, with bunkers strategically placed to the left in the landing area of the fairway. The challenge continues with the approach shot, which demands a steep uphill climb, revealing a multi-tiered green that adds complexity to the final putt. Whether celebrating a hard-earned par or commiserating over the challenges of 'Grandview', a post-round beverage at the clubhouse is highly recommended.
