Meet Our Executive Chef, Luis A. Clavel

Chef Luis A. Clavel was born in Puerto Rico and raised in El Salvador and Guatamala before immigrating to Nova Scotia in his pre-teen years.  Clavel learned his trade at The Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) here in Halifax.  Clavel has opened a number of restaurants in the Halifax area prior to joining the Oakfield team, and was able to give back to his profession by acting as a culinary  instructor at NSCC.  Clavel is a Red Seal Chef with a number of accolades including being selected for chef of the year for The Nova Scotia Association of Chefs in 2008 and 2009.  He has a number of Gold Medals while representing Team Nova Scotia at culinary competitions, and is also a trained sommelier and is fluent in Spanish.
